Left Handed Fender Stratocaster
Fender Stratocaster has definitely been the prime choice for guitar players across the world. Made famous by people such as Eric Clapton and Mark Knopfler, the Strat-as it is lovingly called-is a much-cherished guitar for jammers from all over. One of the best things about this guitar is that it is also available for people who prefer to play with their left hands, usually considered to be a minority. Due to the lack of such specialized guitars in the past, a lot of lefties needed to use standard right handed guitars held in the reverse and get used to playing them. However, now with options available such as the left handed Fender Stratocaster, that's no longer needed to be done.
The Fender Stratocaster produces several models, of which most are meant to be played with the right hand. Some of the prominent left handed Fender Stratocaster models include the American Deluxe Fender Stratocaster Left Handed, the American Standard Stratocaster Left Handed, the American Vintage '57 Stratocaster Left Handed among others. These are versions of traditional right handed guitars, specially molded so that they can be played with the left hand. The following are some of the changes that are present in them:-
1. There is a reversal of the order of the strings. In traditional guitars, the thinner strings are placed at the top while their thickness goes on progressively increases as one goes down. This is reversed in left handed guitars, so that the thin strings still come on top.
2. There is also a reversal of the lengths of the strings. The thinner strings are also the longer ones. This order is changed. 3. The nuts need to be changed as well, because the nut is the portion that holds the strings. As the strings are reversed, the order of the slots in the nuts are also reversed. 4. The knobs are placed in a different manner. This is so that they don't come in the way when the guitar is being strummed. 5. The same applies to the pickguard, the protective sheath that prevents the smooth polish of the guitar from being worn out by the pick. Fender Stratocaster also uses the S1 switching system. This is actually a small switch located on the guitar body which changes the guitar into a more versatile instrument. These packages include complete pickup configurations. By pressing the S1 switch-which is located deceptively in the volume knob-the pickups can be changed to parallel or series or a combination of them. This allows people to play a diverse range of sounds. These kits make the guitar player sound masterful, even if the player is just a child! Some guitars are also equipped with switching packs that provide more pickup configurations. The left handed American Vintage, for instance, comes with a three way switching. However, there is a five way switch included as well. Though the left handed Fender Stratocasters are not a toy, they can be easily played by children because of the various simple features that are included in them. The switching pack, especially, transforms playing them into child's play. Quite a good choice, if you are a beginner left handed player!
